Event Coordinator (28 hours per week

Lazarus House is a 24/7 homeless Shelter located in downtown Saint Charles, IL. We serve individuals in need of a safe place to stay providing shelter, meals, showers, laundry, case management services, as well as educational classes to all that enter our doors.

Position Description Overview

This position is responsible for planning and promoting events and fundraisers with a focus on strengthening community relations to increase donor and volunteer base, as well as community mission awareness. 

This part-time position has a flexible schedule of 25 hours per week (5 hours, Mondays - Fridays.). Additional hours during the week of major events is usually required.

Essential Job Functions- Fundraising & Development

Plan, oversee and implement staff-led fundraising events, securing corporate sponsors as possible and utilizing Lazarus House’s vast network of volunteers and community supporters.

Support existing and creation and implementation of new public relations, marketing and communication plans and efforts to ensure they adequately support grants and fundraising activities. This may include:

• Drafting press releases, flyers and articles for the quarterly and monthly newsletters in support of fundraisers and other activities. Assist in the creation and distribution of newsletter articles, press releases and flyers related to special events.
• Identifying, reviewing and helping create new materials to support our message to the community.
• Representing Lazarus House in the community, appropriately telling the Lazarus House story.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Effective skills in public speaking a plus.
• Demonstrate intermediate skills with features of computer programs and social media
• Work with professional independence.
• Self-starter
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in event planning and/or fundraising 
• Graduation from an accredited college a plus
• Prior experience with event software a plus
