Dragonfly Senior Navigation Services LLC offers three services: 1) Consultation for those navigating dementia care 2) Facilitation of support groups in memory care services or communities 3) Dementia Education for front-line staff in memory care services and communities as well a dementia education curriculum for informal caregivers such as family members, volunteers, etc.
The owner, LaVon Lenaway, M.A. has over 23 years of experience in the field of Gerontology and Dementia in the Chicagoland area. Her experience includes being a resource at her undergrad, Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, IL and local church in Batavia, IL. Her career started in adult day services and branched into numerous roles including case management for the Illinois Department on Aging, senior Federal HUD housing, and director and coordination positions at local top-shelf memory care communities.
LaVon is known for mixing a bit of humor, warmth, and empathy into her groups and dementia education. She has several goals in mind as she helps navigate the weeds of dementia care: 1) making sure caregivers do not feel alone 2) making sure caregivers rest well at night 3) helping caregivers return to their roles as spouse, child, etc. by getting the supports they need to supplement care. 4) helping caregivers find something beautiful and redeeming in the muck of care-giving, much like spotting a beautiful dragonfly while trekking in a swamp.
