On May 3rd, at 3:00 pm, the Fox Valley Philharmonic Orchestra will present a free concert featuring a broad spectrum of virtuosic music. Three solo performances with orchestral accompaniment are featured. The Fox Valley Academy Concerto Competition Winner, sixteen-year old Clare Scheidler of Aurora will perform Vivaldi's Violin Concerto, La Stravaganza, "The Eccentric" and Competition Runner-Up, nine-year old Sofia Radovic of St. Charles, will perform Vivaldi's well-known, Concerto in A minor. Additionally, virtuosic pianist, Kevin Wong of Chicago will delight the audience with Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 2. The concert will also feature the Philharmonic Winds in Joachim Raff's Sinfonietta, a work profoundly influenced by the compositional style of his 19th century contemporary, Mendelssohn. The Philharmonic Orchestra is the Fox Valley Academy of Music Performance's community orchestra under the direction of Maryann Flock. The Academy Orchestra and Youth Strings will also perform classical works at a 1:00 pm concert. Come experience artistic performances in the ideal environment of the St. Charles Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Admission to the concert is free; but, donations are welcomed. The church is located at 1145 N. 5th Avenue, St. Charles, just a few blocks northeast of Main Street and the Fox River, with plenty of parking available. I am so thankful that a few of my fellow Batavian’s recommended the Batavia Chamber of Commerce to me. Since I joined I feel as though I have been blessed with a second family with all the support and motivation I get from them on a regular basis. Margaret, Patti and Shirley are the most amazing women. They have great passion for business and helping people. I truly feel they care about my business on a personal level and want to see it grow and succeed as much as I do! They have gone the extra mile to get my name and my business name out there and introduce me to the business community. The Chamber has so many opportunities available that have helped my business both grow and problem solve such as the free monthly Networking It events. I highly recommend the Batavia Chamber of Commerce to all business professionals.
