The Holmstad Town Center Gallery will feature the works of award-winning miniature painting artist Edward Cook beginning Feb. 23 through April 20, 2015. An artist's reception is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28, 6-8 p.m., in the Centrium. The Holmstad, a not-for-profit, faith-based continuing care retirement community operated by Covenant Retirement Communities, is located at 700 W. Fabyan Parkway, Batavia. A Batavia resident, Cook is a self-taught artist who specializes in miniature paintings, which is considered a fine art specialty. His acrylic paintings typically measure 4.75" x 2.75" and tend to reflect his love of nature. Rural landscapes, old buildings, barns, streams, waterfalls and water lilies are some of his favorite renditions. One of 38 American miniature artists invited to London to participate in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Royal Miniature Society, which is under the patronage of Queen Elizabeth II, his artwork has also received honors from the Miniature Artists of America and Whiskey Painters of America. The artist's reception and refreshments are free. The exhibit featuring miniature paintings is open daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. through April 20, 2015. For more information, visit www.TheHolmstad.org or call 877-226-7310.

I am so thankful that a few of my fellow Batavian’s recommended the Batavia Chamber of Commerce to me. Since I joined I feel as though I have been blessed with a second family with all the support and motivation I get from them on a regular basis. Margaret, Patti and Shirley are the most amazing women. They have great passion for business and helping people. I truly feel they care about my business on a personal level and want to see it grow and succeed as much as I do! They have gone the extra mile to get my name and my business name out there and introduce me to the business community. The Chamber has so many opportunities available that have helped my business both grow and problem solve such as the free monthly Networking It events. I highly recommend the Batavia Chamber of Commerce to all business professionals.
