Batavia Chamber Member Insider - Meet Phil Bukowski

Welcome to this week's Member Insider! We are excited for you to learn more about your fellow Batavia Chamber members. This week, we continue the series with our hard-working Board of Directors. To gain insight into our esteemed members, we are asking them to answer a total of 20 questions.

Our Board of Director member to meet this week is Phil Bukowski, who works for Two Roads Lending. Phil has been there for five years, originating mortgage loans for purchases and refinances. Two Roads Lending has been a member of the Batavia Chamber of Commerce for three years, with Phil beginning to serve on the Chamber’s board in 2018.

If you’ve been reading this series, you’ll realize that first we will learn about Phil’s thoughts about the Chamber. Here are his responses:

Question: What makes our organization’s mission powerful for you?
Answer: The members and Rockstar staff!

Q: Why did you join the Chamber’s board?
A:  I wanted to support the best local chamber I’ve ever engaged with. I Also want to help guide this chamber to a greater outreach.

Q: What does the Batavia Chamber do better than anyone else?
A: Connect other members within the organization and spur activity to create well attended events.

Q: What does "success" mean to you in terms of your work as a board member?
A: Engaged members and healthy fundraising for the Chamber so we can continue to roll out new/better ways to serve members.

Q: What specific skills, experience or networks do you bring to the table to help the Chamber?
A: Financial and budgeting skills, experience running a networking group, and connections with a large local network of local businesses to help bring new members to the Chamber.

Moving on, we learned insights into Phil’s work life.

Q: What motivates you to work hard?
A: Taking care of the people I love.

Q: What was your first job?
A: Farmhand at the farm down the street from my childhood home.

Q: Do you prefer closed-door offices or open-concept layouts? Why?
A: Open concept all day. I like the interaction. I’m energized by people working together but having the option for solitude is important when you need to really get things done.

Q: What was the first thing you wanted to be when you grew up?
    A:  A garbage man!

    Q: What is your superpower?
    A: Multi-tasking under high pressure.

Lastly, we glean a few other tidbits from our sources. Phil’s chosen questions – with his answers – can be read next.

Q: If money were no object, how would you spend the rest of your life?
    A: Making wood furniture

Q: What actor would you like to do a movie about you?
    A: Christian Bale
