The Batavia Fireworks Committee will host their annual Citywide Garage Sales on May 3-4, 2024, from 8:00am-4:00pm each day. The application form to host a garage sale in Batavia can be found at bataviafireworks.org, or in Batavia citizens’ March utility bills. Forms are also available at the City Hall reception desk, 100 North Island Avenue Monday-Friday during business hours. This annual event raises money for Batavia’s annual 4th of July Fireworks Show. Batavia Public School District 101 (BPS101) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Wall as the new Principal of Louise White Elementary School, effective July 1, 2024. This appointment comes following Dr. Skomer's retirement announcement. Dr. Skomer has worked at BPS101 for 26 years. He was the principal of both the old and new Grace McWayne Elementary School and became the principal of Louise White Elementary School 13 years ago. Inspired by completion of the PEACE on EARTH artwork installation, the Batavia Parks Foundation proudly announces the launch of a new painted rock garden initiative to help spread kindness to and from the community. The Batavia Park District’s Board of Commissioners authorized a 8’ x 12’ garden space on the Batavia South Riverwalk Plaza area by the Peace Bridge for the new rock garden at their January 16, 2024 meeting, creating the canvas for the new garden area. February 7, 2024 –Today, eight Batavia businesses were named recipients of the 2023 Ole Award. Businesses who had final city occupancy permits by December 31, 2023, were eligible. All recipients will be honored at Inspire 2024: A Celebration of Those Who Inspire Us! event, scheduled for Thursday, April 25. A committee of Batavia Chamber members, along with representation from the City of Batavia and Batavia Chamber staff, evaluate all Batavia businesses who meet the permit timing qualifications.
