Description
April of 2020 marks the next 10-year census which counts every person living in the 50 states, District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories. Communities across the country are spreading the word about the importance of responding to the census.
An accurate Census 2020 count for Batavia will…
• Ensure that residents of Batavia are properly represented in Congress
• Secure federal and state funding allocations for Batavia governmental agencies that will be appropriate to meet the needs of all Batavians
• Help Batavia agencies plan effectively for public safety, school services, and emergency preparedness
The Batavia Public Library and the City of Batavia have joined together to organize “Batavia Counts” in order to engage and educate the residents of Batavia about the 2020 Census through partnerships with community organizations.
Interested organizations and community members are invited to an informational meeting at the Batavia Public Library on Thursday, Nov. 14, beginning at 7 p.m. You will learn about the 2020 Census and hear from a panel of Batavia leaders about why completing the census is so important to our community.
