• Testimonial from Terry Semmens, Northwestern Medicine "As the West Region of Northwestern Medicine has many different chamber memberships (14 at last count),  I have had the good fortune to interact with many different chambers. • Seventh Annual Prom Dress Collection and Giveaway

Batavia, Ill – January 28, 2020 - The Batavia Public Library will host CHIP IN Batavia’s 7th annual Prom Dress Giveaway on Saturday, March 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be hundreds of dresses on display, along with private changing areas, and accessories to choose from.
A seamstress will be on hand to help with alterations. All dresses will be given away free of charge to any girl from any school district, regardless of need. Our mission is to help students in need, but to make it simple. Due to the prohibitive cost of prom, we want to offer all girls one free dress. Monetary donations are appreciated and welcomed. The money will be used to help pay for tuxedo rentals and prom tickets for Batavia students.
The Batavia Public Library is located at 10 S. Batavia Avenue, Batavia and can be contacted by calling (630) 879-1393. We encourage girls to come with friends or family….it is a lot of fun, and the dresses are gorgeous!
    Donations Now Accepted
From February 1 through March 20, the check-out desk at the Batavia Public Library will also collect donated prom dresses and accessories. All dresses should be in clean and good to excellent condition. Donations of accessories, including purses, jewelry, hair accessories, shoes and unopened make-up are also appreciated greatly. Tax donation letters will be available.
Last year, CHIP IN gave away over 300 dresses to students from Batavia, Mooseheart, St. Charles, Geneva, Elgin, Aurora, Rosary, Jacobs, North Central College, Yorkville, Chicago, Naperville and more. Additionally, more than 300 dresses were given to Rotolo Middle School for the eighth-grade dinner dance, and to the Batavia Interfaith Clothes Closet, Wayside Ministries, East Aurora High School, My Daughters Dress Prom Drive, and All Dressed Up.
CHIP IN Batavia (Community Helpers Impacting People in Need) is a restricted fund within the Batavia Foundation for Educational Excellence, a 501-c-3 not for profit organization. Our mission is to help students in need, who are homeless or in transitional housing, or on free/reduced lunch.
