  • Special Events Coordinator - Part-time

    Title: Part-Time Special Events Coordinator
    Reports to: Executive Director

    Position Overview: Batavia MainStreet is seeking a team player interested in helping to promote Downtown Batavia. Duties of the Special Events Coordinator include: Plan, coordinate and execute community events and promotions including but not limited to Downtown Egg Hop, WellBatavia, Cocktails in the Park, Block Party, and BatFest through our community volunteer committee model. Approximately 15 to 20 hours per week seasonally.

    Essential Job Functions:
    - Ensure committees adhere to work plans & budgets alongside volunteer committees
    - Help plan and execute MainStreet special events listed above
    - Build relationships with vendors for event equipment and supplies
    - Complete annual event applications and other required paperwork needed to facilitate events
    - Participate as an active team member on cooperative events hosted by the Batavia Chamber
    and Batavia Park District when needed
    - Greet and treat all visitors and volunteers in a friendly manner
    - Attend volunteer event committee meetings and report back to Executive Director
    - Recruit, manage, and train event volunteers
    - Maintain a clean work and office environment
    - Follow the MainStreet mission and vision

    Requirements:
    - Minimum High School Diploma or GED
    - 2 years work experience or comparable
    - Strong written and verbal communication skills
    - Ability to work flexible hours - MUST work weekend and evening events and meetings 
    - Strong interpersonal skills and professional presence

    Work Experience Requirements:
    - Event and volunteer management experience preferred
    - Non-profit experience preferred
    - Public interaction and enthusiasm for downtown districts and grass-roots volunteer, community efforts

    Other Skills/Abilities:
    - Ability to multitask
    - Self-motivated, self-starter, critical thinker and independent worker
    - Ability to lift 50lbs
    - Ability to work long hours on event days, drive a car and walk extensively
    - Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    - Other duties as assigned
