Water Street Studios continues to pARTner with leading organizations and artists in the area through the Activate the Alley project, a public art display honoring 10 local organizations through the work of local artists. On Thursday, April 23rd the second art panel will be revealed virtually on social media.
Fox Valley Food for Health’s mission is to promote a nutrition focused community through teen education and serving those struggling with a health crisis. For more information about Fox Valley Food for Health visit www.foxvalleyfoodforhealth.org.
Fox Valley Food for Health’s Healthy Meals Program has gone through some significant changes over the last few months. Zac Cesario, Executive Director of Fox Valley Food for Health explains, “We have been dedicated to support our clients as best and safely as we can during this trying time, but unfortunately we did need to suspend our program for two weeks to reassess our operations. During those weeks, our team created new protocols to safely create and deliver our immune supporting meals, including limiting our volunteers by 87% to limit the number of individuals in our kitchen, restructuring our shift schedules, and implementing even more social distancing protocols. With this effort I'm happy to share that we have resumed operations as of April 13th and will continue to assess to ensure we are supporting the safety of our clients and volunteers.”
Cesario continues, “Now more than ever it's critical we continue to adapt to support our mission. Our clients during this time are struggling with cancer or another health crisis and are part of one of the most at risk populations. By being able to provide them our nutrient rich meals, we not only are supporting their recovery, but are diminishing the risk of exposure to COVID-19. We can provide them the peace at mind that they will receive high quality, delicious meals, without having the stress of leaving their home, cooking or the financial burden that is ever more apparent. By supporting Food for Health, you are directly supporting your neighbors who may be struggling the most during this crisis.”
Fox Valley Food for Health selected Kit Sunderland to create the artwork for their mural to bring awareness to the mission, vision, and programs of their organization. Kit Sunderland, a Chicago-based artist dedicated to expressing the duality of life through her work, was selected by Fox Valley Food for Health for her colorful, realistic yet whimsical style that ties perfectly with Food for Health’s dual mission. For more information on Kit Sunderland and her work visit www.kitsunderland.com.
“This project was created to elevate our community. At Water Street Studios, we understand that our greatest asset is our artist community. We want to utilize our best resources to help lift up the organizations that are making the biggest impact in our community so that together, we can build a healthier more vibrant place to work, live and play,” says Danielle Hollis, Executive Director at Water Street Studios.
