NEW DATE - Watch for any further changes!
The Batavia Public Library will host CHIP IN Batavia's 7th annual Prom Dress Giveaway on Saturday, April 11, 2019, from 9 am- 4 pm. There will be hundreds of dresses on display, along with private changing areas, and accessories to choose from. We will have a seamstress on hand, to help with alterations.
All dresses will be given away free of charge to any girl from ANY school district, regardless of need. Our mission is to help students in need, but to make it simple and due to the prohibitive cost of prom, we want to offer all girls one free dress. Monetary donations are appreciated and welcome and will be used to help pay for tuxedo rentals and prom tickets for Batavia students.
The Batavia Public Library is located at 10 S. Batavia Avenue, Batavia. 630-879-1393. We encourage girls to come with friends or family. It is a lot of fun, and the dresses are gorgeous! The Library will also be the collection site for donated prom dresses and accessories, Feb. 1-March 20th at the Check Out Desk. Donated dresses should be in clean and good to excellent condition. We would greatly appreciate donations of accessories, including purses, jewelry, hair accessories, shoes and unopened make up. Tax donation letters will be available.
Last year, CHIP IN gave away over 300 dresses to students from Batavia, Mooseheart, St Charles, Geneva, Elgin, Aurora, Rosary, Jacobs, North Central College, Yorkville, Chicago, Naperville and more. Over 300 more dresses were given to Rotolo Middle School for the 8th grade dinner dance, and to the Batavia Interfaith Clothes Closet, Wayside Ministries, East Aurora High School, My Daughters Dress Prom Drive, and All Dressed Up.
CHIP IN Batavia (Community Helpers Impacting People in Need) is a restricted fund within the Batavia Foundation for Educational Excellence, a 501-c-3 not for profit organization. Our mission is to help students in need, who are homeless or in transitional housing, or on free/reduced lunch. I am so thankful that a few of my fellow Batavian’s recommended the Batavia Chamber of Commerce to me. Since I joined I feel as though I have been blessed with a second family with all the support and motivation I get from them on a regular basis. Margaret, Patti and Shirley are the most amazing women. They have great passion for business and helping people. I truly feel they care about my business on a personal level and want to see it grow and succeed as much as I do! They have gone the extra mile to get my name and my business name out there and introduce me to the business community. The Chamber has so many opportunities available that have helped my business both grow and problem solve such as the free monthly Networking It events. I highly recommend the Batavia Chamber of Commerce to all business professionals.
