Post to Present - Celebrating 60 Year...Description
It was 60 years ago that Batavia became the face of America, thanks to the Saturday Evening Post Magazine using John Falter’s painting, “Fox River Ice-Skating,” on the front cover. Come enjoy open skating on the pond as the 1950s Batavians did, while enjoying live entertainment, fire pits (s’mores anyone?) and the chance to warm up next to the original painting in the Depot Museum.
Two local Batavia women presented about the painting by John Falter along with information about the artist, his style and the theme to the third graders at Alice Gustafson Elementary. The art teacher, Laura Starzec, worked with those students to create a piece of art for the celebration on January 6th. The art piece that celebrates the original painting and also illustrates what happens today on the pond (Post to Present). It will be on display at the Peg Bond Center at the celebration.

I am so thankful that a few of my fellow Batavian’s recommended the Batavia Chamber of Commerce to me. Since I joined I feel as though I have been blessed with a second family with all the support and motivation I get from them on a regular basis. Margaret, Patti and Shirley are the most amazing women. They have great passion for business and helping people. I truly feel they care about my business on a personal level and want to see it grow and succeed as much as I do! They have gone the extra mile to get my name and my business name out there and introduce me to the business community. The Chamber has so many opportunities available that have helped my business both grow and problem solve such as the free monthly Networking It events. I highly recommend the Batavia Chamber of Commerce to all business professionals.
