    • About

If you want to reduce your nervousness in front of a crowd, to gain confidence when speaking, or even to refine already-strong speaking skills, Talk of the Town Toastmasters is the right place for you. The added bonus? Our club gives you great opportunities to develop and refine leadership skills. Come join us for a free meeting or two.

Please plan to arrive at your first meeting about ten minutes early so we can greet you, meet you, and answer your question. We look forward to seeing you!

Talk of the Town Toastmasters was established in 2009 to bring Toastmasters International to Batavia, Illinois. Our club is made up of a great group of people who are each committed to becoming better public speakers and more effective leaders. About 20 members and guests -- who come from all walks of life -- attend each weekly meeting.

Talk of the Town was recognized as a President's Distinguished Club for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 club years and a Select Distinguished Club for the 2012-2013 year. In 2013-2014, we again earned the President's Distinguished Club award. We were also awarded the highest club honor given by District 54, the Heitzman Award, for the 2012-2013 year.

Values: Toastmasters International’s core values are integrity, dedication to excellence, service to the member, and respect for the individual. These are values worthy of a great organization, and we believe we should incorporate them as anchor points in every decision we make. Our core values provide us with a means of not only guiding but also evaluating our operations, our planning, and our vision for the future.

Vision: Toastmasters International empowers people to achieve their full potential and realize their dreams. Through our member clubs, people throughout the world can improve their communication and leadership skills, and find the courage to change.

Club Mission: To provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
