  • Testimonial from Terry Semmens, Northwestern Medicine "As the West Region of Northwestern Medicine has many different chamber memberships (14 at last count),  I have had the good fortune to interact with many different chambers. While I value all, I find the Batavia Chamber of Commerce is in truly elite company in the value it delivers to its membership. More...

Name: The Holmstad launches free support group for those diagnosed with memory loss
    Date: January 22, 2018
    Time: 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM CST
    Event Description:
As part of The Holmstad’s ongoing support for families and caregivers affected by memory loss, the faith-based senior living community is launching an additional support group specifically for those diagnosed with the condition. Letters to Myself is a free support group that will meet the fourth Monday of the month at 1:30 p.m., beginning Jan. 22, in the Town Center classroom at The Holmstad, located at 700 W. Fabyan Parkway, Batavia. Letters to Myself provides those diagnosed with memory loss a safe, private place where they can share their thoughts and discuss challenges with others affected by the disorder. Loved ones or caregivers who provide transportation will be directed to an area with refreshments for waiting. Rachel Lazich, of CovenantCare at Home, will facilitate the group. She has a Master of Science degree from Western Illinois University and a strong background in Alzheimer’s and dementia care. CovenantCare at Home works with hospitals, physicians, and residential care facilities to provide Medicare–certified health care, personal care, and hospice services. Registration is not required. For more information, call Brenda Lowden, RN, at 630-879-4034 or email her at BJLowden@covenantretirement.org. Information about The Holmstad may be found at www.TheHolmstad.org. In addition to Letters to Myself, The Holmstad offers The Holmstad Helping Hearts, a free memory loss support group for caregivers, the first Thursday of the month, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. in the Town Center classroom. Registration is not required to attend the support group, but you must reserve a spot for your loved one requiring care by calling Brenda Lowden, RN, at (630) 879-4034 or emailing her at BJLowden@covenantretirement.org. The care is provided free of charge. About The Holmstad The Holmstad is a faith-based, non-profit continuing care retirement community located at 700 W. Fabyan Parkway, Batavia, Ill. • I am so thankful that a few of my fellow Batavian’s recommended the Batavia Chamber of Commerce to me.   Since I joined I feel as though I have been blessed with a second family with all the support and motivation I get from them on a regular basis.  Holly, Lindsey and Margaret are the most amazing women.  They have great passion for business and helping people. I truly feel they care about my business on a personal level and want to see it grow and succeed as much as I do!  They have gone the extra mile to get my name and my business name out there and introduce me to the business community.  The Chamber has so many opportunities available that have helped my business both grow and problem solve such as the free monthly Networking It events and the Home-Based Mastermind Group.  I highly recommend the Batavia Chamber of Commerce to all business professionals.
