Open House & Community Appreciation
Lazarus House will be hosting its annual Open House and Community Appreciation Day on Saturday, September 10th from 10am-Noon at 214 Walnut Street. Come out and meet members of our Board of Directors and staff as they offer tours of Lazarus House and celebrate the many ways we are supporting our neighbors in crisis. Over the past 19 years, with the help and support of so many, Lazarus House has been here to offer hope by providing hospitality, food, safe shelter, and education to those in our community in need. Please join us and bring a friend or neighbor!
Rocket Fizz Soda Pop & Candy Shop located at 301 W. Main Street will be celebrating with us to honor our open house with Spirit Day. Walk around the corner to purchase sweets & pop, bring in a flyer available at our open house and Rocket Fizz will donate 15% of your purchase back to us!
Lazarus House is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization serving people who are connected to St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia and western rural Kane County. Through its programs, Lazarus House provides a “continuum of care” to help people regain independence. The Emergency Shelter and Women and Children’s Day Center provide a safe living place for people who are homeless. The CTL, which features 12 dormitory-style rooms and a structured program, is the next step in helping people regain and maintain successful, independent living. The Outreach program, administered from the Community Resource Center, provides grant-funded rental subsidies to qualifying people so they can remain in their homes. Lazarus House also serves as a soup kitchen for the food insecure from the immediate area.
Last fiscal year, Lazarus House sheltered an average of 49 people every day and subsidized an average of 35 households monthly. Across all programs, it served 303 different people.

I am so thankful that a few of my fellow Batavian’s recommended the Batavia Chamber of Commerce to me. Since I joined I feel as though I have been blessed with a second family with all the support and motivation I get from them on a regular basis. Margaret, Patti and Shirley are the most amazing women. They have great passion for business and helping people. I truly feel they care about my business on a personal level and want to see it grow and succeed as much as I do! They have gone the extra mile to get my name and my business name out there and introduce me to the business community. The Chamber has so many opportunities available that have helped my business both grow and problem solve such as the free monthly Networking It events. I highly recommend the Batavia Chamber of Commerce to all business professionals.
